CANNABIS CONSUMER AND SALES DATA ESTIMATES FOR ARIZONA THROUGH JULY 2016

by | Dec 19, 2016 | Economics

December 19, 2016 – Though July, there were 106,828 active cannabis cardholders in Arizona, an increase of more than 32% over 2015. At the current pace of applications and cards being granted, we estimate 113,000 to 120,000 cardholders at year end, an increase in more than 40% year-over-year.[1]

For the period through July, Arizona dispensaries have sold 31,433 pounds of cannabis, and based on an avg. spot price of $311 that implies approximate sales of $156 million.

Arcview has forecast medical cannabis sales hitting $367 million this year, which, based on the data through July, seems a bit aggressive. We think the number is more likely to come in around $267 million, still a solid number which would translate into $17 to $18 million in tax revenue to the state.
